Japan Airlines domestic traffic up 14.8% in May

Japan Airlines (JAL) has posted an 14.8% increase in domestic passenger traffic in May from the same period a year ago.

The carrier's domestic capacity, as measured in ASKs, increased by 11.5%, while its domestic passenger numbers grew by 14.3% to 2.46 million. Its load factor for May was 59.6%, says the Oneworld member.

JAL's traffic on international routes increased by 27.6% against year-on-year capacity growth of 6.6%. Passenger numbers were up by 32.5% at 605,000 and the load factor was at 72.9%.

The volume of international cargo carried increased by 4.3% to 19,800t, with a 12.5% decline in mail carried to 2,090t.

The carrier's total cargo carried on domestic routes increased by 10.2% to 30,800t, with a 4.6% rise in mail carried to 2,150t.
