Japan Airlines domestic traffic up 3% in May

Japan Airlines (JAL) has posted a 3.1% year-on-year increase in domestic passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, for May.

The carrier's domestic capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose by 2.5%, while its domestic passenger numbers inched up by 4.5% to 2.57 million. The domestic load factor stood at 59.9%.

JAL's international passenger traffic grew by 0.8% and international capacity for the month went up by 3.4% year on year. The airline's international passenger numbers decreased by 2.9% year on year to 588,000. The international load factor was 71.1%.

The volume of international cargo carried increased by 5.5% to 20,900t, while the amount of mail carried grew by 16.4% to 2,400t.

The carrier's total cargo carried on domestic routes increased by 2.1% to 31,500t and total mail carried surged by 11% to 2,400t.
