Japan Airlines posts February domestic load factor of 63.2%

Japan Airlines (JAL) has posted a domestic load factor of 63.2% for February.

Domestic passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, decreased by 3.4% year on year while capacity, as measured in ASKs, fell by 4.9%. Passenger numbers declined by 2.3% to 2.25 million in February.

JAL's international passenger traffic grew by 1.2% year on year in the month. Its international capacity inched up by 0.9%, while international passenger numbers went down by 1.3% to 594,000. The international load factor stood at 75.5%.

The volume of international cargo carried decreased by 6.1% to 18,500t, while the amount of mail carried fell by 6.4% to 2,140t.

The airline's total cargo carried on domestic routes declined by 2.6% to 27,700t and total mail carried decreased by 2.1% to 2,150t.

Direct comparison with 2012 for February figures is distorted by the extra day from the leap year.
