Japan's Skymark Airlines has selected Rolls-Royce engines for its Airbus A330 as well as its A380 fleet.

It has firmed a tentative deal for Trent 900 powerplants for its six A380s, says the engine manufacturer. Rolls-Royce values this agreement at $1 billion at catalogue prices.

But Skymark has also selected the Trent 700 for up to 10 leased A330s which will be introduced to the fleet in 2014. The carrier has signed a letter of intent for the engines as well as a maintenance support package.

Skymark becomes the only Japanese operator to choose both engine types, says Rolls-Royce.
