SAS sells ex-Commercial Aviation Leasing MD80s to Allegiant
Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) sold 18 Boeing MD80s to Allegiant Travel Company, the parent company of Allegiant Air.
Allegiant acquired eight MD82 (49381, 49385, 49420, 49421, 49424, 49436, 49437, 49438, 53008, 53275) aircraft with JT8D-219 engines that were manufactured in 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1991. Another two MD83 (53347, 53366) aircraft with JT8D-217 engines were acquired from SAS. It also purchased six MD87 (49608, 49610, 49612, 49614, 49615, 53348) aircraft with JT8D-217C engines that were manufactured in 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992.
All 18 aircraft are part of a 30 MD80 portfolio sale in 1999 to a joint-venture Commercial Aviation Leasing Ireland established with GECAS. The aircraft were leased back for 10 years and as leases matured, SAS purchased the aircraft back for a resale.
Allegiant had already agreed to purchase two MD82 (49555, 49909) aircraft with JT8D-217 engines. MSN 49555 was built in 1987 and MSN 49909 was manufactured in 1989.
Deliveries to Allegiant commence in January 2010 and are scheduled to be completed in July 2010. Allegiant Air plans to gradually add the 13 MD82/83 aircraft to its current fleet of 46 MD80 aircraft, including 13 sister ships, previously purchased from SAS.
Air Manas subleased a Boeing 737-800 (28068) aircraft with CFM56-7B26 engines from Saga Airlines. The 1998-vintage aircraft is owned by Aviation Capital Group was previously operated by Air Berlin.
Allegiant Air acquired a Boeing MD81 (53302) aircraft with JT8D-217 engines from Japan Air Lines. The 1994-vintage is part of an acquisition of seven MD81s, which will be parted-out to increase its engine and parts inventories.
Atlasjet Airlinesleased two Airbus A321-100 (604, 614) aircraft with V2530-A5 engines from ILFC for four years. The 1996-vintage aircraft were previously leased to Bestair.
Kenya Airways leased one used Boeing 767-300ER (29383) aircraft with CF6-80C2B6F engines from ILFC for 18 months. The 1999-vintage aircraft was previously leased to Alitalia.
Aerolineas Argentinas leased a Boeing 737-700 (30237) aircraft with CFM56-7B24 engines from GECAS. The 2000-vintage aircraft was previously operated by EasyJet.
Caribbean Airlines wetleased a Boeing 767-300ER (26263) aircraft with CF6-80C2B6F engines from LOT Polish Airlines. The 1995-vintage ex-Zoom Airlines aircraft is on lease from ILFC through June 2011.
Continental Airlines leased four Boeing 757-300 (32584, 32586, 33525, 33526) aircraft with RB211-535E4-C engines from Boeing Capital Corp. The aircraft were previously operated by ATA Airlines. The first two aircraft were manufactured in 2001, the remaining two in 2003.
Eastok Avia signed a letter of intent to purchase an Airbus A320-200 (316) with V2500-A1 engines from Cyprus Airways. The 1992-vintage aircraft has been operated by Cyprus Airways since new. Cyprus Airways says the purchase price is $6.1 million.
Europe Airpost leased a second Boeing 737-700 (32418) aircraft with CFM56-7B20 engines from Nomura Babcock & Brown. The 2003-vintage aircraft is on lease to EasyJet through March.
Georgian Airways leased one Boeing 737-500 (28055) aircraft with CFM56-3C1 engines from ILFC for a period of three years. The 1998-vintage aircraft was previously operated by Okay Airways.
Jetlink Express leased a Bombardier CRJ200LR (7113) aircraft with CF34-3A1 engines from First Greenwich Kahala. The 1996-vintage aircraft was previously operated by Alma de Mexico Jetlink Express now operates three leased CRJ200s from First Greenwich Kahala.
Kuban Airlines leased three Boeing 737-300 (26312, 26311, 26310) aircraft with CFM56-3B1/C1 engines from ILFC for a period of three years. The 1995-vintage aircraft were previously operated by BMIbaby. MSN 26311 is scheduled to delivery in February 2010 and MSN 26312 and 26310 are scheduled to deliver in March 2010.
Kulala.com leased a Boeing 737-800 (28612) aircraft with CFM56-7B26 engines from GECAS. The 2000-vintage aircraft was previously leased to Futura International Airways.
Petro Air leased a Fokker F100 (11416) aircraft with Tay 650-15 engines from Trade Air. The 1992-vintage ex- American Airlines aircraft was acquired by Trade Air from Aircraft Trust in 2004. Petro Air returned a Fokker F100 (11407) aircraft to Trade Air.
Privilege Style leased one Boeing 757-200ER (26252) aircraft with RB211-535E4 engines from ILFC for a period of five years. The 1999-vintage aircraft was previously operated by Iberia.
Ryan International leased a Boeing 767-300ER (26204) aircraft with PW4060 engines from GECAS. The 1992-vintage was previously operated by Varig-VRG Linhas Aereas.
Skyservice Airlines subleased a Boeing 757-200 (27621) aircraft with RB211-535E4 engines from Thomas Cook Airlines on a winter lease agreement. The 1997-vintage aircraft is leased by ILFC to Thomas Cook Airlines.
Sun Country Airlines subleased two Boeing 737-800 (28375, 28380) aircraft with CFM56-7B27 engines from Transavia on a winter lease agreement. MSN 28375 was manufactured in 1998 and is on lease from Volito Aviation. MSN 28380 is a 2000-vintage aircraft owned by Transavia.
Turkuaz Airlines leased one Airbus A320-200 (2048) aircraft with CFM56-5B3/P engines from ILFC for approximately five years. The 1997-vintage aircraft were previously leased to Air Jamaica.
UTAir leased 15 CRJ200LR (7114, 7119, 7121, 7122, 7128, 7130, 7135, 7165, 7200, 7220, 7266, 7298, 7378, 7391, tba) aircraft with CF34-3B1 engines from Bombardier Capital. The aircraft were delivered to Lufthansa Cityline from the manufacturer between 1996 and 2000. A total of seven aircraft were built in 1996, while two aircraft were manufactured in 1997, another two in 1998, two in 1999 and the remaining two in 2000.
XL Airways France wetleased an Airbus A330-200 (480) aircraft with Trent 772B-60 engines from Air Transat. The 2002-vintage ex-Star Airlines aircraft is on lease from ILFC through June 2011.
Wings of Lebanon leased a Boeing 737-300 (26313) aircraft with CFM56-3C1 engines from ILFC for a period of three years. The 1995-vintage aircraft was previously operated by Thomson Airways.
