China Eastern closes A340 S&LB transaction
China Eastern Airlines has sold two Airbus A340-300 (131, 141) to Bank of Communications Finance Leasing and agreed to lease them back for a period of five years. Both aircraft were built in 1996 and are powered by CFM56-5C4 engines. China Eastern agreed to sell both aircraft for 590 million yuan ($86.5 million), which is equivalent to the unaudited book value of the aircraft as at the sale delivery date. "The consideration was determined after arm's length negotiation between the parties with reference to the unaudited book value of the Aircraft as at 30 April 2009, which is approximately RMB590 million," says the carrier.
According to the terms of the agreement, China Eastern will pay about 17 million yuan per aircraft each quarter over the next five years. This makes an aircraft at $830,500 a month lease rate. Last Year the carrier signed a six years sale and leaseback transaction with ICBC Leasing for three Airbus A340-300s at $970,000 per aircraft per month.
Air Arabia Maroc acquired a new Airbus A320-200 (3833) with CFM56 engines from Air Berlin.
Anadolu Jet leased a Boeing 737-700 (34758) aircraft with CFM56-7B22 engines from GECAS. The 2007-vintage aircraft was previously operated by SkyEurope Airlines.
Arkefly subleased a new Boeing 737-800 (35146) aircraft with CFM56-7B26/3 engines from TUI Travel Group.
BH Air acquired two Airbus A319-100 (3139, 3188) with CFM56-5B4/6 engines from Air Berlin. Both aircraft were delivered to Air Berlin in June 2007.
BOC Aviation acquired two Boeing 777-300ER passenger and two Boeing 777-200LR freighter aircraft with GE90-110B1 engines from Air France through a sale and leaseback transaction. The two aircraft bearing MSNs 32965 and 32966 were delivered new from Boeing in February 2009. The second tranche of two passenger aircraft is expected to close in June 2009.
CanJet Airlines leased a Boeing 737-800 (29934) aircraft with CFM56-7B24 engines from CIT Aerospace. The 2002-vintage aircraft was operated by Ryanair since new.
Deccan Cargo leased three Airbus A310-300F (684, 693, 697) aircraft with PW4152 engines from Nilgiri Hills Leasing. The 1993/94/95-vintage aircraft were previously operated by Air India as passenger aircraft.
FedEx purchased a Boeing 757-200 (27198) aircraft with RB211-535E4 engines from Babcock & Brown Asset Management. The 199e-vintage aircraft was previously operated by US Airways.
GECAS purchased and leased back two new Airbus A320-200 (3798, 3827) aircraft with CFM56-5B4/3 engines to GoAir.
Jet Time leased a Boeing 737-300 (27834) aircraft with CFM56-3C1 engines from Orix Aviation. The 1995-vintage aircraft was previously leased to bmibaby.
Macquarie AirFinance closed a purchase and leaseback of one 2009-build Boeing 737-800 (35148) aircraft with CFM56-7B26/3 engines with TUI Aviation GmbH, the aviation arm of TUI Travel. It will be leased back to TUI Aviation until 2017 and will be operated by Jetairfly, TUI Travel PLC's Belgian airline subsidiary.
Nile Air leased two Airbus A320-200 (3183, 3219) aircraft with V2527-A5 engines from Genesis Lease. The 2007-vintage Air Deccan aircraft were previously operated by Kingfisher Airlines (ex-Air Deccan aircraft).
SkyEurope Airlines leased a Boeing 737-300 (24246) aircraft with CFM56-3B2 engines from Aurora Aviation Group. The 1988-vintage aircraft was last operated by Untied Airlines.
Skyservice leased a Boeing 757-200 (24772) aircraft with RB211-535E4 engines from Jetscape. The 1990-vintage aircraft was previously operated by Gadair European Airlines.
Strategic Airlines subleased one Airbus A330-200 (324) aircraft with PW4168A engines from Swiss International Air Lines. The 2000-vintage aircraft is owned by Aircastle and on lease to Swiss through 2014.
Sun Air wetleased a Boeing 767-200ER (24757) aircraft with CF6-80AF engines from Jordan Aviation. The 1990-vintage ex-Silverjet aircraft is on lease from Falak Investments.
Transatlantic Aviation leased a Boeing 747-200FM (21940) aircraft with JT9D-7Q engines from JT Power. The 1980-vintage ex-Orient Thai aircraft will be operated by MK Airlines.
Ural Airlines leased an Airbus A321-200 (1771) aircraft with CFM56-5B4/P engines from ILFC. The 2002-vintage aircraft was previously operated by First Choice Airways.
Victory Park Capital Advisor purchased a Boeing 737-300 (23672) aircraft with CFM56-3B2 engines from Pacific Lighting Leasing. The 1988-vintage aircraft was previously operated by United Airlines. Cabot Aviation and Aurora Aviation Group co-arranged the transaction.
Viking Airlines leased a Boeing 737-300 (29266) aircraft with CFM56-3C1 engines from GECAS. The 1999-vintage aircraft was previously operated by Flyglobespan.
Wizz Air sold one new Airbus A320-200 (3771) aircraft with V2527-A5 engines to GECAS, and leased it back for a period of 11 years. This is the fifth Wizz Air aircraft sold and leasedback from GECAS while subsidiaries Wizz Air Ukraine has two A320-200s leased from GECAS and Wizz Air Bulgaria has one A320-200 leased from the operating lessor.
