Easyjet sells four A321s
Easyjet has agreed to sell four Airbus A321-200s to Airbus in a transaction that is expected to close in October 2010. The four aircraft were inherited through the acquisition of GB Airways in 2008. MSNs 1869, 2462, 2682 and 3106 were built in 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2007 respectively and are powered by V2533-A5 engines.
"The aircraft are being sold for a total cash consideration approximately equal to their aggregate book value, payable on completion. Therefore, no material profit or loss will arise as a result of the disposal of the aircraft. However, the Company will incur certain costs in connection with the disposal, these costs are not expected to exceed £3.3 million," Easyjet says.
After redeeming the outstanding debt on the aircraft Easyjet will generate a positive cash flow of £25 million on the transaction.
