New York-based JetBlue Airways and South African Airways (SAA) have applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to place JetBlue's code on certain SAA flights between the USA and South Africa.

SAA plans to display JetBlue's code on its flights from US destinations to Johannesburg and beyond to points in South Africa, as well as from US destinations to Dakar, Senegal as an intermediate point on SAA's USA-South Africa flights.

The points beyond Johannesburg include Cape Town, Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth, say the airlines in their DOT application.

The two carriers already hold approvals to display SAA's code on some JetBlue flights.
