JetBlue Airways has appointed Ian Deason vice-president of airports, reporting to the airline's chief operating officer Rob Maruster.

Deason will be responsible for all of the airline's airport-related functions, leading a team of 6,000 employees.

He joined the carrier in 2006 as chief of staff to JetBlue's chief executive and chief operating officer, before moving to the commercial team to become the airline's first director of airline partnerships. Deason relocated to Boston in 2010 to oversee the airline's growth out of the city

"We are redesigning the airport experience, to make it friendlier for our customers and more efficient for our airline," says Maruster. "I can think of no better person to lead our great airports team into the future than Ian. He brings a unique combination of experience, energy and enthusiasm to the role, and I know JetBlue, our customers, and our crewmembers will all benefit from his leadership."
