JetBlue Airways has appointed captain Charles “Bart” Roberts to the vice-president of flight operations position.

Roberts will oversee JetBlue's 2,800 pilots and will report to Jeff Martin, the New York-based carrier's senior vice-president of operations. He joins JetBlue after serving 28 years at American Airlines in several leadership roles.

Before joining American, Roberts served in the United States Navy for 25 years.

“Captain Roberts is an industry veteran with a strong history of building consensus and bringing pilots, management and regulators together for the good of the airline and the profession,” says Martin. “He is known as a consummate pilot advocate and true professional aviator.”
