JetBlue plans to expand its codeshare agreement with Emirates to cover its flights between New York John F. Kennedy and destinations in Mexico, Dominican Republic and Barbados.

The two airlines announced a codeshare pact in April 2012, under which Emirates will place its code on JetBlue's flights from New York JFK to 12 markets.

JetBlue is now requesting the US Department of Transportation to allow it to place Emirates' code on JetBlue's flights between any points in the USA, and between any point in the USA and any point in third countries that have open skies agreements with the USA.

In addition, it requested to place Emirates' code on JetBlue's flights between New York JFK and Cancun in Mexico, Punta Cana, Santo Domingo and Santiago in the Dominican Republic and Bridgetown in Barbados.

The airline says it plans to start the codeshare on the routes to Mexico and the Caribbean on or about 1 January 2013.
