JetBlue’s Hayes steps up into president role

JetBlue Airways has appointed Robin Hayes its president effective 1 January 2014.

Hayes takes on the role from Dave Barger who remains chief executive of the New York-based carrier. In his new role he will oversee the execution of the airline’s business plan both commercially and operationally.

“Robin’s expertise and global airline experience will help JetBlue continue to strengthen and evolve our business,” says Barger in a statement.

Hayes has worked as JetBlue’s chief commercial officer since joining the airline in 2008. Prior to that, he was executive vice-president of the Americas at British Airways.

Rob Maruster, executive vice-president and chief operating officer of JetBlue, will report to Hayes in his new role.
