Singapore-based low-cost carrier Jetstar Asia expects to base one or two additional Airbus A330 aircraft at its hub at Singapore Changi airport by end-2011.

The airline's move is in line with its plan to launch new long-haul services from Singapore to North Asia, said Jetstar Asia CEO Chong Phit Lian. It is also keen on starting flights to South Europe, she added.

Jetstar Asia launched its first long haul service between Singapore and Melbourne service on 16 December 2010. This was followed by Singapore-Auckland on 17 March this year.

In addition to the A330s, Jetstar Asia operates 12 Airbus A320 aircraft, Flightglobal's ACAS database shows.
