Jetstar Airways has picked Denpasar as the first international destination for its Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
The carrier will start operating the 787 on the Melbourne-Denpasar route on 18 December, says its group chief executive Jayne Hrdlicka. This will be followed by services to Phuket, Honolulu, Singapore and Japan, she adds.
Before transitioning to long-haul services, Jetstar will first deploy its 787 on services from Melbourne to Cairns and Gold Coast starting 13 November.
The airline took delivery of its first 787 aircraft on 6 October, which landed at its Melbourne base on 9 October. Flightglobal’s Ascend Online Fleets database shows that the carrier will receive two more 787s by the end of this year (MSNs 36203 and 36204), six in 2014 and the final five in 2015.
Jetstar’s 787-8s are configured with 335 seats in a two class configuration, with 21 business and 314 economy class seats.
