Lucy Mbugua has been appointed managing director of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) for a three-year term beginning 24 January.

She became acting managing director on 15 August 2013, following the departure of Stephen Gichuki.

“Having taken over after the fire at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport that destroyed a section of the international arrivals terminal in August 2013, Mbugua has been at the forefront in the recovery and restoration efforts for the facility,” KAA says.

Prior to taking over as managing director, Mbugua was general manager for marketing and business development.
