Kenya Airways chief executive Titus Naikuni is to depart the airline at the end of 2014, bringing to a close 10 years at the helm.

Naikuni's contract was coming to its end but has been extended by a year to allow the flag carrier's board to find a replacement.

The six months ending 30 September brought a turnaround in the Nairobi-based airline's fortunes, as a KSh5.5 billion ($63.8 million) operating loss in the same period of 2012 was transformed into a KSh1.7 billion profit.
