Kenya Airways is to lease a pair of Embraer 170s from Finnish flag-carrier Finnair from next month, under a $20 million agreement.
Finnair says it has excess capacity in its fleet and will lease the 76-seat twin-jets - which are already up for sale - to Kenya Airways for four years.
The Finnish carrier's asset leasing division, Finnair Aircraft Finance, is responsible for the jets although the lease is being arranged through US-based Jetscape.
"It's very satisfactory that we are able to make use of our assets by leasing out the aircraft," says the division's managing director Maunu Visuri.
Finnair has 10 Embraer 170s, two of which are leased to Finncomm Airlines, as well as 10 Embraer 190s.
