KLM Cargo will today resume shipments of valuables on flights to the South African capital Johannesburg after new security measures were introduced following an armed robbery at the airport at the end of last year.

KLM suspended the shipment of valuables on flights to Johannesburg after an armed robbery of a shipment of diamonds and bank notes at the airport on 27 December, following a KLM flight from Amsterdam.

The Dutch carrier though will lift the ban after satisfying itself with additional security measures at the airport drawn up by South Africa’s ministries of Interior, Transport and Safety & Security, together with the airport authorities.
