Korean Air has signed a memorandum of understanding with Boeing to find new areas of cooperation in the defence sector.

This collaboration will focus on rotorcraft, fixed-wing aircraft, unmanned air vehicles, and military aircraft maintenance and support opportunities, say the two companies.

The work will be spearheaded by Korean Air's Aerospace division. Korean Air says its collaboration with Boeing will allow it to become a "dynamic aerospace company" with greater proficiency in aircraft manufacturing, remodelling and performance.

The partnership will support South Korea's aviation technology, as well as expand both Boeing's and Korean Air's businesses in the growing global aero-defence industry, it adds.
