Korean to to launch JFK A380 service in August

Korean Air will launch Airbus A380 service on the Seoul-New York JFK route from 2 August and on the Seoul-Los Angeles route from 1 October.

The SkyTeam alliance member plans to operate thrice-weekly A380 flights from New York's JFK airport, increasing it to daily service in September, says Korean Airlines. Daily service will be launched on the Seoul-Los Angeles route in October.

"We are excited about the new service and how it will support our mission to serve the America's," said Korean Air vice president of marketing John Johnson.

Korean has ordered 10 A380s, with the first five to be delivered by the end of 2011 and an additional five by 2014. It's A380s will have only 407 seats: 12 first class and 301 economy class seats on the first level, and the 94 business class "Prestige" seats on the upper deck.
