L-3 Communications has been awarded a contract to build two aircrew training devices for the Pakistan air force's new Lockheed Martin F-16C Block 52 fighters. The deal is worth $20.5 million, said the US Department of Defense.

The package also includes the computer equipment associated with the training devices.

The new award covers one simulator for the air training system for the Block 52 aircraft, plus another to support Pakistan's earlier Block 15-standard F-16As.

Also included are 18 panel "simuspheres", 21 months of logistics support (12 months on-site and nine on-call) and various related hardware and software systems.

The package also includes instructor and operator stations and full weapons simulation.
