LAN Colombia has announced that it will increase its capacity by 10% in July in order to absorb part of the market void left by Copa Airlines Colombia, which has reduced its service in the country.

According to the Colombian subsidiary of Oneworld carrier LAN, it plans to increase seat capacity and frequencies on most trunk routes around its Bogota hub, including to Cali, Cartagena, Santa Marta, Cucuta and the island of San Andres.

LAN Colombia plans to add around 400,000 annual passengers to its local network. In 2013, LAN transported 4.02 million passengers on domestic routes.

It plans to complete this year its fleet cutover from Boeing 737-700s inherited from Aires, acquired by LAN in 2010, to Airbus A320 aircraft. Its last remaining three 149-seat Boeing aircraft will be replaced with three 174-seat A320s.
