Chile's LAN is aiming to launch Boeing 787 revenue service on 1 October, with flights between Santiago and Buenos Aires.
This will be followed by Santiago-Lima in November, says the airline's vice-president of fleet projects Justin Siegel. It will then fly the aircraft to the USA in January 2013, on the Santiago-Lima-Los Angeles route.
"We might do Santiago-Los Angeles non-stop at some point as we already do that in certain seasons," he says. However, he points out that Lima is a strong commercial hub for that route.
LAN also plans to operate the aircraft to Madrid and Frankfurt within its first year of 787 operations.
