transportation secretary Maria Cino today officially
announced the appointment of Charles Leader as director of the Joint Planning
and Development Office (JPDO), an interagency department tasked with developing
the country’s Next Generation Air Transportation System.
Leader, who assumed the position on August 7, joins the FAA
from OAO Technology Solutions, where he was president.
He has also worked “in several private companies that have
provided a wide range of services with a focus on technology”, notes the FAA,
adding: “As corporate VP at Hughes Aircraft, he was involved with air traffic
control technology with the FAA, as well as other air traffic control providers
around the globe.”
Robert Pearce, who had been acting director since January
when Charles Keegan left the JPDO to join Raytheon, will continue as deputy
