The Chairman of Antiguan carrier Liat Jean Holder has submitted his resignation as Chairman of the carrier's Board to the Government of Barbados.
Liat's primary shareholder government are Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda and St Vincent & the Grenadines.
Holder was appointed to Liat's board in 2004. Liat stated he has committed to continue to serve as Chairman until a replacement is appointed.
Holder "indicated that there are a number of persons he felt it appropriate to inform before the news became public and he especially did not wish this announcement to be made while the company was in the middle of union negotiations", said Liat. But the information was leaked to the media, and Liat stated it was getting pressed for confirmation.
Liat is in the midst of closing its ticket offices and is negotiating with unions representing employees from those sites on voluntary separation and early retirement schemes.
