Two Taiwanese banks, First Commercial Bank and Cathay United bank, have closed financing on Uni Air's first ATR 72-600 aircraft, which was handed over on 27 September.

The aircraft, MSN 1044, is the first of 10 72-seat ATR 72-600s scheduled for delivery through 2014. The Taipei-based carrier placed an order for 10 aircraft and 10 options in September 2011.

According to Flightglobal's Ascend Online database, Uni Air has two more deliveries this year in November and December. In 2013, the carrier will receive three aircraft while the remaining four are due in 2014.

Uni Air will use its new aircraft to progressively replace its 56-seat Bombardier Dash Q300 fleet and some of the existing Boeing MD-90s. The aircraft will be operated on routes to the offshore islands of Kinmen, Penghu and Matsu in the Taiwan Strait.
