Polish flag carrier LOT dismissed its chief executive Marcin Pirog today following a board meeting, say reports.

Pirog, who was reportedly dismissed because of the company's poor financial performance, will be replaced by Zbigniew Mazur, a member of the board.

LOT did not immediately respond to media queries.

Pirog had said in September that the airline will complete its restructuring in March 2013 and expects to improve its earnings this year.

The Star Alliance carrier posted a full-year loss of Zl145.5 million ($46.4 million) for 2011, narrowing its losses slightly from its 2010 result.

LOT took delivery of its first Boeing 787 in November, becoming the first airline in Europe to receive the aircraft type.
