Polish flag-carrier LOT is to wet-lease a Boeing 777-200ER to serve Toronto while it works to restore its transatlantic Boeing 787 services.
The 777 will fly between Warsaw and Toronto from 4 May until 7 June, as its 787s undergo modification work to address the battery issue which grounded the global fleet in January.
LOT will lease the aircraft from Portuguese carrier EuroAtlantic. The airline has already agreed to lease an Airbus A330 and Boeing 767 from Portuguese companies to maintain capacity while its 787s are grounded.
It says the 777 lease will enable LOT to "ensure smooth operations of all scheduled transatlantic flights". The carrier is intending to restore 787 operations in early June, beginning with its Chicago route.
LOT's 777, registered CS-TFM, will be configured with 30 business-class and 293 economy-class seats.
