Polish carrier LOT has leased a single Boeing 767-300ER on a short-term contract to operate transatlantic services.

The aircraft, leased from Air Italy, will operate the first of 13 services, from Warsaw to Chicago, on 27 April, with the final round trip being flown on 12 May.

LOT says the decision to bring in the aircraft, which will have Air Italy crews but include a LOT cabin crew member, is due to a combination of increased spring season passenger demand and maintenance on one of LOT's own Boeing 767-300ERs.

LOT's transatlantic routes serve Chicago, New York (JFK and Newark) and Toronto.
