European Commission competition regulators are to market-test an amended concession proposal from Lufthansa as the carrier bids to secure approval for its Austrian Airlines takeover.
While Lufthansa had indicated that it was looking at formalising its concession offer of 16 July, a spokeswoman for the airline says this offer has been "amended" following discussions between Lufthansa and the Commission.
"It's not totally new, but there are some new things in it," she says.
Lufthansa has sought from Austrian authorities an extension to its 31 July deadline to complete the takeover, after indicating that approval from the Commission appeared close.
A spokeswoman for the European Commission says that a "new remedy proposal" from Lufthansa has been received.
"The Commission will now market-test this proposal," she says, but adds that it is too early to determine how long this procedure will take. "We cannot tell anything in relation to the timing."
