Lufthansa Group load factors dip on meagre traffic growth

Lufthansa Group has recorded a 0.9% year-on-year increase in traffic for May, against growth of 1% in capacity.

The load factor was down 0.1 percentage points to 77.9%, and the total number of passengers carried by the group rose 0.3% to 9.23 million.

Cargo load factor decreased 2.7 percentage points to 63.4%.

Austrian Airlines's traffic grew 0.5% against a capacity decline of 4.4%, resulting in a 3.7 percentage point increase in load factor to 75.3%.

Swiss Airlines's traffic increased 4.2% on 3.5% growth in capacity, resulting in a 0.6 percentage point increase in passenger load factor to 81.6%.

Lufthansa's passenger airlines - including regional carriers and Germanwings - saw combined traffic growth of 0.2% against a capacity increase of 1.2%, pushing load factors down by 0.8 percentage points to 77.4%.
