Lufthansa Group load factors inch up in H1 2012

Lufthansa Group has recorded a 3.9% year-on-year increase in passengers numbers to 49.4 million for the first half of 2012, against a 1.1% reduction in flights.

The group-wide seat load factor was up 1 percentage point to 76.9%, while cargo load factor decreased 0.7 percentage points to 68.4%.

Lufthansa's passenger airlines - including regional carriers and Germanwings - saw combined traffic growth of 2.8% against a capacity increase of 1.8%. This pushed load factors up by 0.8 percentage points to 76.5%.

Passenger numbers at Austrian Airlines increased 6.7% to 5.44 million, as load factor increased 3.3 percentage points to 74%.

Swiss Airlines's passenger numbers increased 4.1% to 8.1 million, with load factor up 1.2 percentage points to 80.5%.
