Lufthansa Group loads decline 3.9 points in October

Lufthansa Group has recorded a 2.8% year-on-year increase in traffic for October on an 8% growth in capacity, leading to a 3.9 percentage point decline in its passenger load factor to 77.3%.

The total number of passengers carried by the group rose 2.1% to 9.62 million, compared with the same period a year earlier.

In the cargo business, traffic dropped 1.4% against a capacity growth of 1.8%. Cargo load factor fell to 66%, down 2.2 percentage point against a year earlier.

Austrian and Lufthansa recorded the highest growth in traffic, with a 3.8% and 3.7% rise, respectively, and passenger numbers increasing 5.1% to 1.05 million and 3.8% to 5.87million.

Traffic at Swiss grew 1.8% on a 5.9% growth in capacity, leading to a 3.3 point drop in load factor to 82.8%.

BMI recorded a 3.4% decline in traffic with passenger numbers sliding 10% to 495,000. Capacity grew 5.7% which led to a 6.2 percentage point decline in load factors to 66.4%, said the group.
