Lufthansa Group has recorded a 4.6% year-on-year increase in traffic for September on an 8% growth in capacity, leading to a 2.5 percentage point decline in its passenger load factor to 80.1%.
The total number of passengers carried by the group rose 3.6% to 9.94 million, compared with the same period a year earlier.
In the cargo business, traffic dropped 0.8% against a capacity growth of 2.3%. Cargo load factor fell to 64.8%, down 1 percentage point against a year earlier.
Lufthansa and Swiss recorded the highest growth in traffic, with a 5.7% and 5.6% rise in RPKs, and passenger numbers increasing 5.2% to 6 million and 5.5% to 1.46 million, respectively.
Austrian Airlines' traffic grew 4.1% and passenger numbers rose 5.8% to 1.16 million.
However, RPKs at Germanwings dropped by 4.4%, although load factors climbed by 2 points as capacity reduced.
BMI recorded a 5.7% decline in traffic with passenger numbers sliding 8.6% to 547,000. The capacity increased 3.3% which led to a 6.8 percentage point decline in load factors to 71.6%, said the group.
