Lufthansa Group traffic up 3.7% in August

Lufthansa Group has recorded a 3.7% year-on-year increase in traffic for August, against 1.2% growth in capacity.

The load factor was up 2.1 percentage points to 83.8%, while the total number of passengers carried by the group rose 3.1% to 9.63 million.

Austrian Airlines's traffic fell by 2.6% while capacity declined 9.3%, resulting in a 5.8 percentage point rise in load factor to 85.4%. Its passenger numbers declined by 5.6% to 1.08 million.

Swiss Airlines's traffic increased 7.5% on 5.4% growth in capacity, resulting in a 1.8 percentage point increase in passenger load factor to 87.1%. It carried 1.6 million passengers in August, up 4.1% year-on-year.

Lufthansa's passenger airlines - including regional carriers and Germanwings - saw combined traffic growth of 3.7% against a capacity increase of 1.7%.

Load factor at the passenger airlines rose by 1.6 percentage points to 82.8%, while the total number of passengers carried grew to 6.95 million in August, up 4.4% year-on-year.
