Lufthansa Group has named BMI finance head Simone Menne as its new chief financial officer, succeeding Stephan Gemkow who is to step down at the end of June.

Menne has been chief financial officer of UK operator BMI - recently sold by Lufthansa to International Airlines Group - since June 2010.

She has held several positions with Lufthansa since 1989, including managing director of its revenue services division, and was also formerly the vice-president of finance and accounting at maintenance arm Lufthansa Technik.

Menne will take over from Gemkow on 1 July, under a three-year contract.
