German carrier Lufthansa has closed a refinancing on a 2010-vintage Airbus A380 aircraft with a Japanese operating lease (JOL) structure in a $200 million deal.
The aircraft (MSN 048) was delivered new to Lufthansa in October 2010. It is powered by Rolls Royce's Trent 970-84 engines.
The transaction was arranged by Lufthansa Leasing, a joint venture between KGAL GmbH & Co. KG and Lufthansa.
The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ provided the debt portion in the financing, says Lufthansa Leasing which confirms the deal.
The transaction marks the fifth A380 financing arranged by Lufthansa Leasing. Lufthansa operates a 10 A380 fleet and has seven more deliveries scheduled for 2014 and 2015, according to Flightglobal's Ascend online database.
