Lufthansa's flight training arm has installed a Boeing 747-8 simulator at its facility in Frankfurt.

The full-flight simulator (FFS) was manufactured by Canada-based CAE and delivered at the end of August.

Assembling the 14-tonne equipment took one week, before Germany's Federal Aviation Office (LBA) approved the simulator earlier this month.

Lufthansa Flight Training says that it is the first FFS for the passenger version of the 747-8 anywhere in the world.

Differences between the passenger and cargo variants cover mainly air conditioning as well as fire warning and extinguishing controls for the aircraft's interior, the company adds.
