Lufthansa's pilot training arm has taken delivery of an Airbus A380 cockpit simulator at its Frankfurt centre.

The simulator, manufactured by Thales' UK simulation division, has been delivered to Lufthansa Flight Training today.

Lufthansa says the first training sessions are to be conducted in January next year.

Fifteen A380s are on order from Lufthansa and the aircraft are due to start arriving in early 2010 ahead of being put into service for the summer.

The first example, MSN038, has been nearing completion at Airbus' Toulouse headquarters.

Lufthansa Flight Training has 38 cockpit simulators at six centres in Frankfurt, Munich, Bremen, Berlin, Zurich and Vienna.
