Airbus has extended its partnership with Lufthansa Technik (LHT) for the interior completion of corporate A318 aircraft, and will consider developing cooperation further.
The German maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider has been installing the cabins for Airbus's ACJ318 programme at its base in Hamburg since 1998. More recently, its has done the same for US subsidiary BizJet International in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Walter Heerdt, LHT's senior vice-president marketing & sales, says that the contract renewal is a "strong signal to the VIP market" and the two companies may "further expand their relationship".
LHT has VIP interior maintenance contracts on almost all Airbus models from the A300 to the A340 - along with types of other manufacturers such as Boeing - and has thus worked together with the Toulouse-based airframer for years.
To date, the MRO provider has completed 15 corporate A318s on the airframers behalf. Two aircraft are currently being worked on, while three more are on order to be completed in Tulsa.
