Star Alliance carrier Lufthansa is to restore services to the Colombian capital Bogota, a route which it ended eight years ago.

Lufthansa will operate to Bogota five times per week from its hub at Frankfurt, from 31 October.

The carrier says it will use Airbus A340-600s on the route, configured with 306 seats including eight in first class and 60 in business class.

Lufthansa serves three other destinations in South America: Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Caracas.
