Luxembourg's government is to acquire Qatar Airways' 35% shareholding in freight carrier Cargolux, after the Middle Eastern carrier suddenly opted to withdraw its investment.
It will purchase the stake for $117.5 million, a figure which "corresponds" to the price paid during Qatar Airways' acquisition.
Luxembourg ministers held negotiations with Qatar Airways in the Qatari capital, Doha, over the course of 15-16 December.
Qatar Airways took its 35% stake in Cargolux in early September 2011 but the tie-up lasted just 14 months. Qatar's involvement drew strong criticism from unions and the carrier gave up on the partnership in November this year.
Luxembourg's government says Qatar Airways cargo flights to the European country "will be continued".
