Macau airport passenger numbers up 11% in 2012

Macau International Airport (MIA) recorded a total passenger throughput of 4.49 million in 2012, an increase of 11% compared with the same period last year.

Aircraft movements increased by 8% year on year to 42,000.

In 2012, five new airlines including Mandarin Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, Thai Smile, Air Busan and Philippines AirAsia commenced services in Macau.

The Southeast Asian market accounted for 37% of the airport's passenger market, while mainland China accounted for 32% and the Taiwan market accounted for 31%.
