Macau International Airport (MIA) handled more than 423,000 passengers in July 2012, an increase of 8% compared with the same period last year.
The Southeast Asian market also recorded an increase of 30% in passenger numbers over the same month last year.
The growth in traffic growth was attributed to an increase in outbound local residents and inbound visitors during the summer vacation period. With four new airlines including Mandarin Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, Thai Smile Air, and Air Busan commencing operations in April and July this year, travellers now have more air travel options.
From January to July 2012, MIA's overall passenger numbers rose by 7% to 2.35 million, compared with the same period last year.
Aircraft movements for the first seven months of the year increased by 2% year on year to 22,000.
The airport says that the addition of new airlines like Vietnam Airlines and Mandarin Airlines was one of the main driving factors for traffic growth.
