Malaysia Airlines’ passenger traffic up 0.5% in October

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has posted 0.5% growth in traffic, as measured in RPKs, for October.

Its domestic RPKs rose by 28.7%, while its international RPKs fell by 2%. The carrier's total passenger numbers increased by 11.6% to 1.14 million, while its domestic passenger numbers climbed by 24.1% to 417,000 and international passenger numbers rose by 5.5% to 720,000.

The airline's overall capacity, as measured in ASKs, declined by 2.7%. Domestic capacity grew by 11% and international capacity decreased by 4.1%.

The airline's overall passenger load factor grew by 2.4 percentage points to 74.3%. The domestic passenger load factor increased by 10 percentage points to 72.2% and the international passenger load factor rose by 1.5 percentage points to 74.5%.

On the cargo front, MAS' freight traffic in load tonne kilometres rose by 6.8%. MAS' cargo capacity as measured in capacity tonne kilometres climbed by 9.4%.

The airline's freight load factor decreased by 1.6 percentage points to 69%.
