Malaysia Airlines’ passenger traffic up 7% in November

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has posted 7% growth in passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, for November.

Its domestic and international RPKs rose by 17.8% and 5.7% respectively. The carrier's total passenger numbers increased by 14.5% to 1.20 million, while its domestic passenger numbers climbed by 15.9% to 455,000 and international passenger numbers rose by 13.7% to 749,000.

The airline's overall capacity, as measured in ASKs, declined by 0.1%. Domestic capacity grew by 11.6%, while international capacity decreased by 1.4%.

The airline's overall passenger load factor grew by 5.1 percentage points to 76.1%. The domestic passenger load factor increased by 4.2 percentage points to 78.6% and the international passenger load factor rose by 5.1 percentage points to 75.8%.

On the cargo front, MAS' freight traffic in load tonne kilometres rose by 8.2%. MAS' cargo capacity as measured in capacity tonne kilometres declined by 0.9%. The airline's freight load factor rose by 6.1 percentage points to 72.5%.
