Malaysia Airlines' (MAS) total passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, rose by 41% in August, compared with the same period last year.
Its domestic RPKs grew by 44%, while international RPKs went up by 41%.
The carrier's total passenger numbers increased by 44% to 1.62 million, while its domestic passenger numbers climbed 42% to 630,000 and international passenger numbers rose by 46% to 994,000.
The airline's overall capacity, as measured in ASKs, grew by 22%. Domestic capacity rose by 31% and international capacity increased by 20%.
The airline's overall passenger load factor grew by 11.7 percentage points to 85.8%. The domestic passenger load factor went up by 7.2 percentage points to 83.3% and the international passenger load factor rose by 12.4 percentage points to 86.2%.
On the cargo front, MAS' freight traffic, as measured in load tonne kilometres, increased by 8.6% while capacity, as measured in capacity tonne kilometres, increased by 16%.
The airline's freight load factor declined by 3.9 percentage points to 60.2%.
