Malaysia Airlines' traffic up 8.3% in June

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has posted an 8.3% growth in RPKs in June.

Domestic RPKs dipped by 1%, while international RPKs rose by 9.5%, said the airline. Total passenger numbers increased by 4.6% to 1.19 million. Domestic passenger numbers decreased by 2% to 427,000 and international passenger numbers grew by 8.8% to 759,000.

Overall capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose by 8.9%. Domestic capacity grew by 7.5% and international capacity increased by 9.1%.

The airline's passenger load factor fell by 0.4 percentage points to 76%. The domestic passenger load factor was down 6 percentage points to 70.6% and the international passenger load factor grew by 0.3 percentage points to 76.6%.

On the cargo front, MAS' freight traffic in load tonne kilometres fell by 22.2%.
