Malaysia’s KLIA passenger numbers up 16% in July

Kuala Lumpur International airport's (KLIA) passenger numbers increased by 16% to 3.84 million in July compared with the same period last year.

KLIA's domestic passenger numbers rose by 18% and its international passenger numbers increased by 15% year on year, says the airport's operator Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB).

Passenger movements at KLIA's main terminal rose by 23% to 2.15 million, while total passengers at KLIA's low-cost carrier terminal grew by 7% to 1.7 million.

At MAHB's other airports, passenger numbers grew by 11% to 2.53 million. Domestic passenger numbers went up by 13% to 2.09 million and international passenger numbers rose by 5.9% to 443,000.

MAHB recorded an increase of 8.4% in cargo movements across its airports, while aircraft movements grew by 13% year on year.
