Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and Royal Brunei Airlines will codeshare on flights between Bandar Seri Begawan and the Malaysian cities of Kota Kinabalu and Kuching on Borneo island from 1 July.
MAS will place its code on Royal Brunei's twice daily services between Brunei's capital Bandar Seri Begawan and Kota Kinabalu, capital of Sabah state. It will also put its code on the twice-weekly services between Bandar Seri Begawan and Kuching, capital of Sarawak state.
The two airlines have been code sharing on flights between Bandar Seri Begawan and Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur since 2004, says MAS.
"As Borneo is a popular destination for North American and North Asian tourists, our customers can now enjoy seamless connectivity to the three major cities which offer unique cultural heritage and natural attractions. Other attractions in Sabah and Sarawak are also easily accessible via our airline subsidiary, MASwings," says MAS commercial director Rashid Khan.
